Apply for the Scholarship

There is important information that you should review before starting your application. The following pages will guide you through it and prepare you for the application.

How The Scholarship Works:

  • Scholarship recipients will receive an award that will cover up to 100% of tuition and textbooks for up to 8 semesters at BYU-Idaho.
  • Scholarship recipients are required to work toward obtaining an academic scholarship.
  • The scholarship will include a monthly stipend towards rent, groceries, and personal expenses during the first year of BYU-Idaho.
  • All scholarship recipients must obtain employment upon completion of their first year of studies. The students are required to cover 100% of their living expenses (rent, utilities, housing fees, etc) after the first year at BYU-Idaho.
  • Scholarship recipients will be provided assistance through BYU-Idaho admission and US visa process.
  • Stirling Foundation scholarship is conditional:
    1. Students must maintain a 3.0 GPA (average 83-86% grade of all courses taken at BYU-Idaho) in order to renew the scholarship at the end each academic year. If GPA falls below 3.0, the student will return to Rwanda and have the opportunity to complete an online degree from BYU-Idaho.
    2. Scholarship applicants are required to pass TOEFL (the TOEFL will be taken after award notification, and the Stirling Foundation will pay for the first exam, but other benefits of the award are contingent upon passing the exam). 3. Scholarship recipients are required to return to Rwanda to benefit their home country using their leadership and BYU-Idaho education for a minimum of 2 years after receiving their degree.
